Printing guide

Every print comes as three or four files, one per frame shape. Here’s how to pick the right one and get it printed well.

Find a printer close to you

We do not offer printing services. Select your country and find print services near you. We are not affiliated with any of the print providers. Please contact the print provider directly with any questions about shipping or printing.

Based on what each service lists for poster and art prints; check their site for the full range. Country not listed? Search for “giclée print” or “poster printing” and your city, and ask for the file to be printed at its full size, without scaling or cropping.

1. Pick the file that matches your frame

Frames come in a few standard shapes. Choose the file whose shape matches your frame, then print it at your frame’s size. Each print’s page lists the largest size every file stays 300 dpi at, so any smaller size will be just as sharp.

2. Choose the paper

Matte paper is closest to the soft surface of the original woodblock prints and avoids reflections behind glass.

A heavier paper, around 200 to 300 g/m², stays flat in the frame. For large sizes, ask for fine-art or giclée printing on cotton paper.

3. Get it printed

Up to A4, a good home printer works well. For A3 and above, upload the file to a local print shop or an online print service and choose the size and paper. The print services for your country are listed at the top of this page.

Screens and printers show colour a little differently, so a print can look slightly warmer or darker than it does on your screen. For large prints, a small test print first is worth it.

4. Frame it

A thin natural wood frame suits most of these prints. A white mount around the print makes a smaller piece feel more considered; the dark-ground prints look best without one.
